Home to one of the largest collections of alligators and crocodile species on earth, the Langkawi Crocodile Farm is undoubtedly one of the most interesting places in Malaysia! Nestled over a huge acreage of 20 acres, Taman Buaya Langkawi, otherwise known as the Langkawi Crocodile Farm, offers a unique experience to all tourists in Langkawi: to spend a day exploring the world of crocodiles!

From itty-bitty newly hatched baby crocodiles to giant reptiles weighing over half a ton: this unique tourist destination in Langkawi gives you the chance to see, hold and experience for yourself the exotic home of crocodiles! Let’s take a look at what the Langkawi Crocodile Farm is all about and what makes it one of the key tourist destinations in Malaysia!

Famed as one of the essential things to do in Langkawi, the Langkawi Crocodile Farm is set on Jalan Datai near Datai Bay, and is a mere 32 Km north from Kuah Town. Spread across a vast acreage of 20 acres, this farm lies in the backdrop of rugged mountains and is surrounded by lush greenery, enticing you to enter into the beautiful world of crocodiles!

As soon as you’ve paid your admissions fee and entered the farm, the first thing you’ll see are the quiet and enchanting newly hatched crocodiles housed in their pens! Small, cute and exotic, these are sure to take your breath away!

A meander through the farm will enable you to visit the different ponds: The Periodical Pond which is home to the smaller, juvenile crocodiles, the Species Pond where crocodiles and alligators lounge in the sun and snore in the warmth of the day and the Bridge Pond, which is home to some of the largest crocodiles  in the farm! The Bridge Pond also offers an adrenaline pumping bridge walk, which encompasses walking on a wooden bridge as the ferocious crocodiles swim lazily below! So if you’re a risk junkie looking for interesting things to do in Malaysia, go for it!

The Langkawi Crocodile Farm offers some very insightful and educative shows into the world of crocodiles. Of these, one of the best is the Man vs. Crocodile contest, which just happens to be a friendly wrestling match between a crocodile and a trainer. Other shows include the pulling of a  crocodile with a bicycle and putting an arm into a croc’s mouth! The daily shows are at 11.15 am and 2.45 pm, so make sure you’re in good time to catch these.

The crocodiles at the Langkawi Crocodile Farm are fed at 10.30 am in the morning, in a controlled environment which is emphatically similar to the natural environment they come from: the Bridge pond. Feeding time is a must-watch, as the crocodiles grapple for the meat, lunge at each other and growl ferociously in their bid to get the best pieces of meat offered by the trainers. While the main feeding time is 10.30 am, there are also hourly feeding sessions that you can check out!

The Langkawi Crocodile Farm is a nature destination, which must be maintained as such. Please avoid littering, throwing litter into the crocodile ponds (they might eat it and die) and do maintain silence so as not to disturb the crocodiles. Souvenirs can be bought at the local souvenir shop, but the best souvenir is the crocodile tooth that you get as you enter!  If you come by cab, ensure it waits for you or you’ll be stuck with no transport back to Kuah. So if you’re in Langkawi, don’t miss out on visiting one of the best places to visit in Malaysia: the Langkawi Crocodile Farm!
