Burau Bay Beach is famed for being one of the interesting places in Malaysia not just for its treasure-island status in migratory birds, but also for its stunning panorama, peaceful natural environment, aquamarine waters and quiet serenity. Let’s take a look at what makes this place one of the key things to do in Langkawi!

Set on the western coastline of Langkawi, Burau Bay Beach is a half-private, half-public beach with the private sections belonging to the Mutiara Burau Bay Beach Resort and the Berjaya Resorts. This beach is famed for being framed by Mat Cincang and Pantai Kok, both of which help to ensure its natural privacy! One of the key places to visit in Malaysia, Burau Bay Beach is known for being a quiet beach offering a lovely stretch of white-gold sand, clear azure waters and gorgeous sunshine all year round!

At only twenty-five yards wide and 1.5 Kms in length, this beach is quite small, which again, adds to the privacy factor! Sandwiched between glorious blue ocean and a millions of years old rainforest, Burau Bay Beach is considered to be one of the biggest tourist attractions in Malaysia.

Burau Bay Beach is ideal for lounging in the sun, getting a glorious suntan, leisurely swims, quiet beach meditation and island-gazing in the distance! If you’re looking for a bit of privacy to enjoy Langkawi’s beaches, then avoid beaches like Pantai Kok or Pantai Cenang and head here! Burau Bay Beach showcases a glorious panorama of some of the smaller islands that make up the Langkawi archipelago, amongst them being Pulau Burau, the island after which the beach is named!

Bird-watching is also a major beach activity at Burau Bay Beach, which forms the surrounds for the resting of migratory birds on migratory routes. Also, snorkeling and other watersports such as banana boating and jet skiing are ideal activities for these waters, but you might have to rent the equipment at the nearby resorts, which might be on the expensive side.

Many tourists also visit Burau Bay Beach for its proximity to the famous Seven Wells Waterfall, which is another of the most interesting places in Malaysia! A short trek through the jungle takes you to the waterfall, although you can also get a mule if you wish to skip the trek!

The sunset on Burau Bay Beach is, in one word, spectacular! One of the most romantic points on the island, Burau Bay Beach offers the perfect evening: a short stroll in the gold of the evening as the setting sun paints the sky in hues of pink, orange and gold!

While there are other ways of getting to the beach, the easiest is through the Mutiara Burau Bay Resort, which offers direct access via the beach café. This beach tends to be quite secluded, but that is only because there are no eateries or public facilities to draw people. While at Burau Bay Beach, please avoid littering which can cause damage to the beach ecosystem and the habitats of the local flora and fauna. Let’s keep in mind that Langkawi is a nature destination that is home to ecosystems which are millions of years old and ensure we avoid any sort of damage to these!
