Here you get to see and learn about the most advanced organic farming techniques while basking in the beauty that nature has to offer.

Getting There

The Mardi Agro Technology Park is one of the most sought after places to visit in Langkawi. Many tourists, especially those who are into farming and gardening, always make it a point to drop by this 35-hectare farmland. The park is owned and financed by the government and opened its doors to the public in 1990. At first, its main purpose was for agricultural research but the beauty of the place caught the attention of tourists and locals alike. It is strategically located at the side of Padang Matsirat’s Lubuk Semilang Recreational Park. It is 12 km from the town of Kuah and just 9 km from the airport, making it an ideal destination.

Touring with freebies

The tourist attractions in Malaysia have different things to offer visitors from the foods they serve down to the tours they organize to make your stay memorable. You may say that Mardi Agro Technology Park may just be another farm you’ve seen before but once you join the tour, you’ll change your mind completely.

The farm has a very organized tour divided into two namely the Tropical Fruits Farm and High-Tech Vegetables Farm. The tour starts at the entrance where a guide awaits the visitors. They will take an improvised van with roof to ward off the heat of the sun but with both sides open so everybody can enjoy the fresh breeze and have a clear view of the sprawling farmland boasting of fruit trees and vegetables.

In the Tropical Fruits Farm, visitors will truly enjoy looking, touching, and even tasting some of the organic fruits like durian, star apples, and rambutan. The free taste is one the most anticipated part of the tour because you get to experience eating these tropical produce. And since these fruit trees are labeled using their scientific and local name, you get to learn something too.

On the other hand, the High-Tech Vegetables Farm features the most advanced technology in organic farming. This is one of the reasons why Mardi Agro Technology Park is considered one of the most interesting places in Malaysia. In some countries, tourists are not allowed to even take a peek at the technology they use in farming but this is not the case here in Langkawi. Everybody is free to learn about their latest research in farming.

Fun in the Sun

After having your dose of learning and touring, you can also relax in the farm’s recreational area which is actually a wide stretch of land ideal for cycling, trekking, and even camping. You can do all three all by yourselves or ask a tour guide to join you at a very low cost. There’s even a pond where you can try your hand at fishing. Facilities like comfort rooms, café, and a store where you can buy products fresh from the farm are also available.

With so many things to do in Langkawi Mardi Agro Technology Park, you’ll never run out of excitement and adventure. However, it is best to book your visit from May to July because it is during these months that trees bear fruits and the weather is just perfect for some outdoor fun.

The Mardi Agro Technology Park is not just another attraction but it provides jobs for locals as well. The fees you pay during your visit can help finance research work and the souvenirs, fruits, and vegetables you buy from their store are a big help to the people in the community.
